Saints power past Airs with dominant home performance
The Wellington Saints produced a strong performance at TSB Arena on Thursday night, defeating the Taranaki Airs 111–89.
The Saints set the tone early, establishing control on both ends of the floor and building momentum through the opening quarter. Their offensive execution was sharp, with the team moving the ball well and finding consistent scoring options.
Taranaki looked to respond and stayed within reach at stages, but the Saints maintained pressure and continued to extend their lead through the middle periods. Defensive intensity and transition scoring played a key role in creating separation.
Heading into the second half, Wellington remained in control. The group continued to execute, limiting the Airs’ ability to build any sustained run while adding to their advantage on the scoreboard.
The Saints closed the game out strongly, maintaining their level through the final quarter to secure a convincing win in front of their home crowd.
The result marks an important response for the Saints as they continue to build momentum in the Sal’s NBL season.
The Saints now return to Porirua for their next home game at Te Rauparaha Arena on May 10.
