Biography
Darius Latu joins the Wellington Saints as one of the brightest young prospects emerging through the New Zealand basketball pathway.
Standing at 6’5”, Latu brings size, athleticism and versatility to the Saints frontcourt despite still being in the early stages of his development. A product of Wellington basketball, he has already gained valuable experience competing at the Sal’s NBL level while continuing to establish himself as one of the country’s promising young talents.
Latu’s game is built around energy, physicality and a willingness to impact the contest in multiple ways. Comfortable playing across several positions, he uses his length and athletic profile to defend, rebound and create extra possessions, while continuing to expand his offensive game. His ability to contribute in high-pressure moments has already been evident, delivering important plays during Rapid League competition and earning opportunities within the Saints senior environment.
What stands out most about Latu is his upside. Still developing physically and technically, he has already shown the traits coaches value most in young players, competitiveness, work ethic and a team-first approach. His willingness to embrace tough defensive assignments and do the small things reflects the culture and identity the Saints continue to build.
