Saint to face Giants 30 Jun 2015

The Wellington Saints will face arch rival Nelson Giants in what will be a tough game.

The Bartercard National Basketball League has rescheduled Saturday’s SemiFinal’s at the TSB Arena, Wellington, in order to avoid the Hurricanes Vs Highlanders Super Rugby Final.

The two games will now take place during the afternoon, with the first semi final being the Zero Fees Southland Sharks vs James Blond Supercity Rangers tip off at 3.30pm , followed by the Mike Pero Nelson Giants v Wellington Saints at 5.30pm.

Bartercard NBL Chairman Sam Rossiter-Stead said: “This will be one of the biggest sporting weekends Wellington has seen and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to ensure that there’s no excuse for missing any of the action.

When the teams signed off the draw back in December, no one around the table raised the issue of a home final for the Hurricanes, and there’s a lot of people very happy to be proved wrong. “I’m sure many supporters will be strolling down to Westpac Stadium after the second semi and then back to the TSB Arena on Sunday for the final.

We have invited the Hurricanes team to join us, and hopefully they’ll bring the Super Rugby trophy along too! “Everything is now set up for a great weekend of basketball and the four teams who have made it through thoroughly deserve to be there.

The standard has been so high this year that it’s impossible to pick a winner at this stage, but whoever lifts that trophy on Sunday evening will have won the most competitive NBL in its 34 year history.”

The grand final is still set for Sunday 7pm tip off at TSB Bank Arena, Wellington
