Wellington Shoot Out 114-104 09 Apr 2017

In Wellington, it was a shootout with Wellington outlasting the Rams 114-104. League leading scorer Corey Webster had his third straight thirty plus point game with 31 points and was one of six Saints players to reach double-digits.

Canterbury managed to be within two points at halftime, but Wellington had their biggest quarter of the season scoring 39 points to hold a 13-point leading going into the fourth.

After shooting only one field goal attempt and dishing 10 assists on Thursday night, Saints point guard Shea Ili had a more balanced stat line of 18 points, six assists and five rebounds. Tai Wesley continued his efficient season tallying 16 points, nine assists and six rebounds.

The Rams were led by their high scoring duo of Marcel Jones and Jeremy Kendle. Jones continued his impressive season with a game high 32 points, and Kendle scored 26.

Ethan Rusbatch added 18 points and Marques Whippy tallied nine assists, seven assists and seven points for Canterbury who drop to 3-3 and are now in a log jam in the playoff spots with the Rangers, Sharks and Taranaki Mountainairs who each have three wins.

Tomorrow, the Taylor Hawks will have another chance to end their dreaded 24 game losing streak when they host the Mike Pero Nelson Giants who are searching for their first win of the season (Live Stream via NZ Herald and Live T.V broadcast on Maori TV).
